On South Huish Marsh - 1F RUFF ( looked a different bird to that photographed at the w/end ) 2 DUNLIN , 2 REED WARBLER , 6 HOUSE MARTIN , 6 SWALLOW , 1M REED BUNTING .2 WHITETHROAT 

On the rocks 3 WHIMBREL , 2 RINGED PLOVER 

At Hatch Bridge 2 WHITETHROAT , 1 TREE CREEPER , GREY WAGTAIL 

At Buckland Valley could only find 1 SPOTTED FLY , also - 

9 HOUSE MARTIN , 3 SWALLOW , 1 GREAT SP WOODY.

Latest news received- At Aveton Gifford the first SPOTTED FLYCATCHER - ( 174) , SPOONBILL still , CURLEW , WHIMBREL .

IN fields behind Thurlestone Church John Ward found a pair of GREY PARTRIGE ( 175 ) - almost certainly escapes from Bantham Estate .

SUN 13 MAY 

Dipped on a potential site for Stone Curlew this morning .

At South Milton Ley Alan ringed 38 new birds inc- 4BLACKCAP , 4 CHIFFY , 1 GARDEN WARBLER , 11 REED WARBLER , 6 SEDGE WARBLER , 1 WHITETHROAT . Also on site , 1 WHIMBREL , GREAT SP WOODY .

Last night Eric had the SPOONBILL on South Efford Marsh .

Report received from Bob of a LITTLE RINGED PLOVER and a M YELLOW WAGTAIL (173) at South Huish Marsh , also a2 WHEATEAR

He could not find the PEC SANDPIPER this morning .

SAT 5 MAY 

FINE SUNNY DAY , little wind 

started with a Garden Watch for 45mins from 07.30 . 26 species inc a garden tick - an ACREDULA WARBLER ( 172 )  this is the North European subspecies of WILLOW WARBLER . A couple of years ago one was caught and ringed at South Milton Ley .Other warblers recorded - BLACKCAP , CHIFFY , SEDGE AND REED

Joined by Bob , Rob Steph and Roger today .

Offshore a nice BLACK T DIVER ( partial sp ), 2 SANDWICH TERN , 

2 WHIMBREL .

ON South Huish Marsh the PEC SANDPIPER continued to show well , 12 WHIMBREL , 1M WHINCHAT , 1 WHITE WAGTAIL , 1 SPARROWHAWK . 2 BLACK H GULL .

IN the lanes at least 4 YELLOWHAMMER .

After a night of heavy rain and strong S winds a clear horizon by 09.00 winds backing NW 5/6 , rough seas.

A great start to the month at 09.25 aPECTORAL SANDPIPER (170 ) 

joined a small flock of waders which also included the CURLEW SANDPIPER .

A 45 min Garden Watch from 07.15 produced 27 species inc - 

1M BLACKCAP, 1 WILLOW WARBLER , 2 CHIFFY , 2 SEDGE WARBLER,11 WHIMBREL , 1 LITTLE EGRET.

Most of the morning taken with watching the waders either on the marsh or on the rocks  totals logged - 33 WHIMBREL, 6 BAR T GODWIT , 11 DUNLIN , , ALSO 3 TEAL , 6 SHELDUCK , 1 YELLOW L GULL ,1F WHEATEAR , 1 REED WARBLER . 3 WHITETHROAT ANA A GARDEN WARBLER along the coast path ,.

Offshore - 25 GANNET , 11 COMMON SCOTER , FULMAR , 3 MANX S’WATER , 1 KITTIWAKE , 4DP ARCTIC SKUA , 30 + AUKS .

The PEC SANDPIPER is the second patch record in Spring  following 1 in April 2014 .

Alan Pomroy has received an interesting BLACKCAP control, a male ringed at South Milton Ley On 16 Sept 2017 was controlled at a site near Cadiz ( Spain ) on 22 Nov 2017 - a distance of 1554 km in 57 days . This is the first control of a South Milton ringed BLACKCAP .

WADERS - 39 WHIMBREL , 3 BAR T GODWIT , 2 DUNLIN , 1 RINGED PLOVER , 21 OYSTERCATCHER . THE PECTORAL SANDPIPER with the WHIMBREL ON THE BEACH , THEN ON THE ROCKS BEFORE MOVING TO THE MARSH - REPORTED L AST AT 16.30 .

2 GREENLAND WHEATEAR ( 171 ) On the rocks . Only 4SWALLOW & 3 HOUSE MARTIN this morning .

At South Efford Marsh Dave confirms the BLACK SWAN on site , the SPOONBILL flew in at 17.45
